While fresh herbs are available all year long at the grocery store, growing your own herbs is easy to do and so much better for your wallet. A small packet of fresh herbs might only be a few dollars, but if you just need a few tablespoons of the herb, which is what you usually need for a recipe, you often waste the rest of the herb packet.
