A great day for Forsyth County

Forsyth County News

Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, will be known in Forsyth County history as a great day. University Center, a blended campus of North Georgia College & State University and Gainesville College, had groundbreaking ceremonies for its Forsyth County campus.

There is a brighter future in our community knowing that our children, our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren will be able to stay in school here in our county from pre-school until they have earned a master’s degree if they choose.

Imagine this. No, you don’t have to imagine it; it is real. Who would have thought that a community like ours, that has been through so much in its past, so many obstacles, so much poverty and without a railroad to bring it economic development prosperity like so many other communities had, would be able to toot its horn and break ground for a prestigious higher educational body as this blended campus?

There have been people who had a dream, who believed, who worked behind the scenes and out front to make this happen for decades. They need a special and heartfelt thank you from all of the citizens in Forsyth County for not giving up. Without these dreamers we could not toot that horn, so I say toot, toot to each and every one of you and keep dreaming from all of us who live in this wonderful Cumming and Forsyth County.

Great things happen to those who dream. And soon, whenever we drive down Pilgrim Mill Road and see this blended campus, we can say thank you Lord for all those dreamers.
