Forsyth Central senior guard T.J. Custer is a finalist to compete in a nationwide 3-point shooting contest at the NCAA basketball championship game on April 6 in Atlanta.

Custer submitted a highlight video of his 3-point shots to the American Family Insurance Slam Dunk and 3 Point Contest and was selected as one of the Top 16 3-point shooters in the nation.

In order for Custer to advance to the round of eight, he must receive more votes than Reza Gilbert of Harlingen High School in Texas.

As of Monday afternoon, Custer held a slight edge with 54 percent of the vote. He is the only contestant from Georgia.

Custer made the All-County first team his junior season when he averaged 16 points per game.

He scored a game-high 15 points in his final contest as a Bulldog on Feb. 9 and hit two 3-pointers in the final 39 seconds as Central attempted a late rally.
