Forsyth Central at Duluth

When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at Tim Maxwell Stadium in Duluth.

Records, rankings: Central is 2-0 and unranked in Class 7A; Duluth is 2-1 and unranked.

Series record: Duluth leads 4-2.

Last meeting: Duluth won 47-14 in 2007.

What to know: Central will have another opportunity for a big win, even on the road. The Duluth Wildcats, one year removed from a 1-9 campaign, are 2-1—but don’t let the record fool you, this team has work to do. After falling in the season opener to Alcovy, Duluth managed wins over Berkmar and Meadowcreek, which have been programs in the rut for years. Berkmar has averaged a loss of over 40-points per contest over a two-year span, yet Duluth managed just a 22-0 win over the Patriots on Aug. 26. They turned around to beat Meadowcreek 19-7, while Central beat the same opponent 63-28 last week.

The Bulldogs have scored 94 points in the past two games, much in part to the dominating ground attack led by senior tailback Sabrian Howard, who is starting to get considerable interest from college programs. Howard rushed for 212 yards on just 12 carries last week, scoring three touchdowns in the win. A Central victory would make the Bulldogs 3-0 for the first time since 1997, when they finished 10-2 under then-head coach Bob Herndon.
