What to know: Local fans might recognize North Atlanta head coach Doug Britten. He coached linebackers at West Forsyth from 2010-11 before taking the head coaching position at North Atlanta in 2012. Before West, Britten was an assistant coach at Northview (2009), Dunwoody (2002-08) and schools in Florida and New Jersey. It’s been a rough tenure at North Atlanta for Britten. The Warriors are 2-24 since he took over and have lost five straight games by a combined 203-13. Their lone win this season was against K.I.P.P. Atlanta Collegiate (22-0).
Meanwhile, Central is coming off a bye week that followed the Bulldogs’ 41-13 upset victory over previously undefeated Riverwood. It was something of a statement game for Central and validated some of the respect it gained after challenging Kell for four quarters in a Sept. 19 loss. Robbie Repasz was the star, scoring on a 98-yard kickoff return, 42-yard punt return and fumble recovery to go along with an interception. Breakout junior running back Shaun Diebel (704 yards, 8 TDs) ran and passed for a touchdown, Trey Abercrombie ran for a score and the Bulldogs suddenly emerged as a legitimate contender in Region 7-AAAAA, Div. B. This Friday is a much different story. Central is a 29-point favorite, according to the Maxwell Projections published by the Georgia High School Football Daily.
