Forsyth Central athletic director Mike Woodard has stepped down from his post to take a new position with the school as the Dean of Students.
Woodard will work alongside Central’s new principal Mitch Young, who was hired in February.
"After being involved in public school athletics for over 25 years and watching two kids grow up and leave, everything has become more magnified," Woodard said. "I have an opportunity with the administration to take on a different role but continue to be at a school I love professionally and personally, as well."
Young hopes to name a new athletic director soon, though it is unclear at this time who is being considered for the job.
"After discussing with [Woodard] the role and learning about his 17 years of administrative experiences — several as an assistant principal — the decision was an easy one," Young said in a press release. "The job he has done in truly transforming the FCHS athletic department over the past three years speaks for itself. His background and organizational skills line up perfectly with this new position and our school’s needs — a position that provides him with the freedom to spend more time with his family.
"Our whole administrative team looks forward to working side-by-side with Mike in this new capacity.
