What to know: For the second straight year, Lambert is clicking at the right time. The Longhorns earned the No. 2 seed out of Region 6-AAAAAA last season and a first-round home playoff game, and they’re right in the mix to do just that again. Quarterback Drew Cole played his best game of the season last Friday at West Forsyth, throwing two long touchdown passes to Tanner Hall. West scored 27 on the Longhorn defense, but Lambert forced three timely turnovers: Trevon McSwain and Adison Schimmelpfennig recovered fumbles and Houston Earnest made a goal-line interception. Patrick Noble made a big play on special teams with his blocked punt in the second quarter. Safety Jeremy Johnson may not play on Friday due to a slew of injuries and wide receiver Tanner Hall is dealing with an elbow issue.
With a win Friday and South’s likely win over Johns Creek, the neighborhood rivals would meet in the regular season finale at The Horn sitting at 6-2 in region play. Depending on Northview and Centennial’s results, the Lambert-South game could decide who takes the No. 2 seed out of Region 6. But first for Lambert: Chattahoochee. Hooch played West Forsyth, Centennial and South close. South’s Tyler LaFlamme ran for 435 yards on the Cougars’ defense; in a 37-7 loss to Northview last Friday, Titans quarterback DJ Pearson threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns and the defense had three sacks and two interceptions.
