Forsyth Central at Lambert

When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at The Horn in Suwanee.

Records, rankings: Central is 3-5 overall, 0-4 in Region 5-7A and unranked in Class 7A; Lambert is 5-4, 3-1 and unranked.

Series record: Lambert leads 2-0.

Last meeting: Lambert won 41-7 in 2011.

What to know: The region title is on the line for the Longhorns, but they may argue there’s more at stake than a trophy. Once leading the region 3-0 and riding high after knocking off South and West, Lambert’s apparent deficiencies finally caught up to it last Friday at Milton. The Eagles dominated on defense while getting most of their offensive production from a single play—a zone-read quarterback run.

Overall, Lambert’s offense has been in a funk for two weeks, struggling to gain more than 100 yards in each of the last two contests. This game against a reeling Central team will be their opportunity to clean things up before the postseason. Expect the Longhorns to focus on the run game early and often—they’re bread and butter. Brian Wright, Justin Bruno and Marcus Chatelain have continued to rotate in and out of the backfield over the course of the season. While Bruno was explosive for a select few weeks, it has looked like Wright has the upperhand as the go-to back heading into the postseason.
