What to know: Lambert’s blowout win over Johns Creek on Friday showed progress on a number of levels. Reid Martin (68-yard touchdown pass), Trevor O’Brien (81 rushing yards) and the Longhorn offense moved the ball. Lambert allowed less than 60 yards rushing, recovered four fumbles and Jeremy Johnson intercepted Kevin Nalecz in the end zone. Johnson has spoken often about the Longhorns’ need for confidence, especially with a young offense. With a win under their belt, Lambert could use a second consecutive road triumph before early region favorite Alpharetta visits The Horn on Sept. 19.

Centennial trailed 21-0 after one quarter and 42-14 at halftime of last Friday’s loss to South Forsyth. The Knights allowed 297 yards on the ground—will the Lambert running game be able to take advantage of what looks to be a porous front seven? After struggling to open lanes for O’Brien against Lanier, the West Forsyth transfer found some room to run against a defense without the massive Derrick Brown at defensive tackle. Maxwell projections say the Knights are 16-point underdogs at home.
