Lambert at Johns Creek

When, where: Friday, 7:30 pm, at The Colosseum in Johns Creek.

Records, rankings: Lambert is 0-1 overall, 0-0 in Region 6-AAAAAA and unranked; Johns Creek is 0-1, 0-0 and unranked.

Series history: Lambert leads 4-2.

Last meeting: Lambert won 21-10 in 2013.

What to know: Johns Creek finished 0-10 last year under Mike Cloy and began the 2014 season with a 9-0 loss to Woodstock on Aug. 29. "I’ve been going against Coach Cloy since the early 2000s and we know what to expect out of each other by now," Lambert coach Louis Daniel said. "Defensively, they’re always going to be strong. They don’t make dumb mistakes. It never matters what the records are; you have to go play a clean game against them."

Lambert had last Friday off after opening the season with a 27-14 loss to Lanier on Aug. 22. All-American baseball player Seth Beer joined the Longhorns during the bye week and jumped in to the quarterback competition; he’s not ready quite yet, according to Daniel. For a Lambert team looking to build confidence after two scrimmage losses and the season-opening defeat, could region rival Johns Creek provide a remedy?
