For the second year in a row, Lambert softball, the Region 6-AAAAAA champions, placed three players on the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) All-State first- and second-teams.
Savannah Huffstetler, the Forsyth County News’ player of the year, was voted by coaches around the state to the first team. The Region 6 player of the year also earned an invite to the GACA Senior All-Star game. Huffstetler, a Tennessee signee, hit .488 with 11 home runs in her senior season.
Senior infielder Macy Stovall and sophomore pitcher Marissa Guimbarda earned second team honors, and freshman infielder Kassidy Krupit was an honorable mention selection. All three were named first team all-county by the FCN.
The GACA did not name any other Forsyth County players to its all-state teams.
Pope pitcher Kelly Barnhill, who helped knock West Forsyth out in the first round of this year’s state playoffs, was named pitcher of the year for Class AAAAAA.
Brookwood pitcher Amanda Ablan earned first-team honors. The sophomore worked all 21 innings of the Broncos’ series win over South Forsyth in the second round of the playoffs, helping Brookwood advance to the Elite Eight.
Etowah freshman Skylar Wallace, who did just about everything for the No. 4 seed Eagles in their first-round upset of top-seeded Lambert, was named to the second team.
