Lambert’s Ellie Sills will attend (Div. I) Tulane University in New Orleans, La., on a swimming scholarship in the fall.

The senior standout helped the Lambert girls’ 200 medley relay team win the state championship last season while she racked up accolades. She was named a high school All-American and made the All-State first team.

Sills had an offer to attend Florida State, but said she chose Tulane because of the girls on the Tulane team and the academic opportunities.

"Before [hurricane] Katrina, they were conference champions," Sills said. "I want to help get them back to that.

"They girls were nice and so were the coaches; it just felt like home to me. I’m really excited. Distance was somewhat of a factor. I didn’t want to be too far away, but wanted it to be [far enough]."

Sills also competes with the Swim Atlanta team, where she achieved national and junior cuts and holds three records for top-10 times in the butterfly and one record for the 200 individual medley.

Sills is undecided on a major, but is leaning toward biology.
