North Forsyth senior Lochlain Corliss won’t go far to play college basketball.

The point guard verbally committed to the University of North Georgia and Nighthawks veteran coach Buffie Burson on Monday night.

Burson just finished her 21st season as head coach at the Division II program that plays in the Peach Belt Conference, and she’ll get a feisty defender and all-around winner in Corliss.

This past season, Corliss averaged 13 points, five assists and three steals as North went 25-5, finished ranked No. 7 in Class AAAAAA by MaxPreps and reached the second round of the state tournament.

The four-year starter finished her high school career as the school’s all-time record holder in assists and steals while a part of teams that won 98 games and a region championship in that span.

Corliss will join a UNG program that Burson has turned into a consistent winner. The Nighthawks went 21-9 overall and 12-7 in the Peach Belt this past season.
