More of the same – South Forsyth girls cross country notched another meet victory in their belt and Pinecrest Academy senior Jessica Zalzman had another impressive race.

The Lady War Eagles won the Lambert River Run on Saturday at Chattahoochee Point Park with 37 points ahead of West Forsyth (45), Pace Academy (69), Lambert (103), North Hall (119), North Forsyth (190) and Dawson County (195).

South was led by Savannah Carnahan, who finished first in 19 minutes 12.56 seconds. Teammate Milicent Bergey wasn’t far behind finishing third in 19:48.79. Other top runners for the Lady War Eagles were Savannah Ratcliff (eighth, 20:57.22), Olivia Turner (11th, 21:18.28) and Caitlin Hulsebus (18th, 21:42.54).

Zalzman finished runner-up to Carnahan in 19:16.90.

West finished second thanks to placing five runners in the top 15 – Julie Ericson (fifth, 20:00.60), Liz Galarza (sixth, 20:04.72), Kim Gibson (21:07.99), Kaitlyn Griffith (21:33.76) and Sara Jenkins (21:36.25).

Host Lambert was led by Mae McKenna who finished seventh in 20:52.09. Other top runners for the Lady Longhorns were Megan Gianini (12th, 21:24.68), Katherine Aikins (24th, 21:53.22), Amanda Thompson (31st, 22:37.99) and Julia Parks (42nd, 23:46.55).

North was led by Gigi Fulkerson (27th, 21:59.43), Ellie Cochran (45th, 24:02.67), Nina Carter (48th, 24:10.25), Madison Booher (49th, 24:21.62) and Brittany Smith (24:35.53).

Pinecrest’s Maria Carroll finished 26th in 21:55.90.

South boys runner-up at Lambert

The War Eagles had two top-10 runners to finish second at the Lambert River Run this past Saturday.

North Hall finished first in the team standings with 27 points, followed by South (59), West Forsyth (76), Lambert (111), Pace Academy (137), Dawson County (156) and North Forsyth (191).

South was led by Ryan Peppenhorst, who finished third in 16:42.14. Jake Howlin also finished in the top 10, coming in ninth in 17:09.05.

Other top runners for the War Eagles were Reed Vaughn (11th, 17:17.52), Matt Patterson (16th, 17:29.53) and Luke Francis (20th, 17:52.95).

West was led by Austin Shea (10th, 17:09.06), John Green (17:28.27), Brett Gammon (15th, 17:28.74), Brian Skoglind (18th, 17:44.76) and Brandon LaBour (19th, 17:51.83).

Noah Schaich led Lambert with a seventh-place finish in 17:02.37. Other top runners for the Longhorns were Hank Grogan (21st, 17:56.75), Jonathan Schwind (22nd, 17:57.67), Sean Langley (31st, 18:29.97) and JT Salgado (35th, 18:33.02).

North was led by Saul Renteria (28th, 18:26.68), Ben Strube (32nd, 18:30.71), Alex Peacock (55th, 19:40.03), Micah Lonholm (57th, 19:42.51) and Scott Henderson (61st, 20:16.15).

Garrett Ruff led Pinecrest Academy with a 63rd-place finish in 20:30.65, followed by Dominic Piron (66th, 22:08.32) and Simon Cassar (68th, 23:33.63).
