Football: Bresnahan, five others selected all-state by GSWA

West Forsyth senior tight end Ben Bresnahan was selected first-team all-state in Class 7A by the Georgia Sports Writers Association, highlighting six players from Forsyth County who were selected to the team.

South Forsyth had three second-team selections in senior offensive linemen Chris Biba and Jordan Nelson and senior defensive lineman Ryan LaFlamme, while Lambert senior Bryce Christensen also made the second team as a punter.

West Forsyth senior defensive back Cade Vela was an honorable mention selection.

Bresnahan caught 56 passes for 742 yards and six touchdowns to help West go 7-4 and reach the state playoffs. The Vanderbilt early signee also rushed for four touchdowns and passed for another.

Biba and Nelson were part of a dominant line that helped South go 9-2 and win its second region title in three seasons. Biba graded out at 95 percent with 28 pancakes, while Nelson graded out at 93 percent with 56 pancakes.

LaFlamme was arguably the county’s most disruptive force on defense, finishing with 26 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks.

Christensen averaged 41.8 yards on his punts with a long of 62 yards this season for Lambert. The senior also made 11 of 14 field goals and 19 of 20 extra points.

Vela had 85 tackles with four interceptions for West.
