Pinecrest Academy had a pair of early touchdowns by John Paul Metz and Joe Neiner to jump out to a first quarter lead that held up for the duration of a 14-7 win against King’s Ridge on the road Friday night.

The Paladin defense kept King’s Ridge (4-3, 1-3 Region 5N-A) off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter.

“A win is always good for the program,” Paladins coach Charles Wiggins said.

“It heals a lot of wounds.”

Unfortunately for the Paladins (2-6, 2-3), the team suffered a literal wound on the field, losing sophomore quarterback Jimmy Strom for the remainder of the season due to a broken collar bone.
