Lambert's boys golf team placed first at state sectionals over the weekend, clinching a spot in the Class AAAAAA state championships which will be held Thursday through Saturday in Augusta.

Brett Barron led the Longhorns with a 67, while Kevin Stine shot a 72 to help the Longhorns to a team score of 293—seven strokes past second-place Alpharetta. Walton's Andrew Yowell edged Barron for low-medalist honors with a 66. North Forsyth just missed the cut by three strokes, but Nick Lasseter qualified as an individual with a 77.

On the girl's side, South Forsyth made the state cut with a 277, led by an 85 by Kelly Strickland. West Forsyth's Allie Fletcher, competing as an individual, shot an 80 to advance to state as well. South and Fletcher will meet three-time defending state champion Lambert in the finals—the Lady Longhorns, who won the Region 6 championship, did not have to compete in sectionals.
