Local wrestlers compete in regional championship

Georgia World Congress Center hosted the 2013 Southeast Regional Wrestling Championship May 24-26, and Forsyth County was well represented with local youth making multiple trips to the podium.

Morris Fitness Wrestling Team, located off Tidwell Rd in Alpharetta in Forsyth, had eight wrestlers compete with all eight medaling and six wrestlers medaling in multiple events. The wrestlers dominated their respective weight classes with three first-place medals, seven second-place medals, one third-place, and four fourth- and fifth-place medals. 

George Gavalas placed first in freestyle and third in Greco at 182 pounds. Enzo Bell who placed first in folkstyle and second in freestyle and greco at 50 pounds kids intermediate. Samuel Smith placed first in greco and second in freestyle at bantam 60 pounds. Ethan Rickert placed fifth in greco at 70 pounds. Justin Williams placed fourth in greco at 138 juniors. Tommy Stupek placed second in greco at 152 cadet.

In addition, some of these young men also competed in the GA Freestyle/Greco State Championship. Rowdy Miller placed second in freestyle and greco at 160 cadet. Gavalas placed second in freestyle and in an injury default received fourth place in greco at 182 cadet. Constantine Gavalas placed fourth in freestyle and greco at 160.
