North Forsyth wrestling finished second out of 14 teams at the Burnt Mountain Classic on Saturday at Pickens County, while Forsyth Central finished ninth.
The Raiders had 11 wrestlers place to rack up 187.5 points behind tournament champion Gilmer who had 278.50 points thanks to 13 wrestlers placing, including nine individual champions.
Central had five wrestlers place for 61 points.
Chase Tenety was the lone individual champion for North. He defeated Cartersville’s Robby Earick in the finals at 106 pounds. Shane Cross finished runner-up at 145 to Cartersville’s Evan Cole, Keigan Radake was runner-up to Creekview’s Joseph Sorrentino at 182 and Austin Thornton placed second after losing to Rome’s Sean Klasson in the 195 finals.
Other placers for the Raiders were Brandon Welsh (sixth, 113), Jake Nash (third, 120), Luke Slaton (third, 126), Chad Warner (fourth, 152), Tanner Buggs (third, 160), Steven Anthony (sixth, 220) and Zach Smith (third, 285).
Nathan Kistler led Central with a runner-up finish at 113. The Bulldogs senior lost to Marcelino Lopez of Gilmer in the finals.
Other placers for the Bulldogs were Hunter Kurowski (sixth, 106), Dustin Morris (fifth, 138), Caleb Troutt (fifth, 145) and Carson Pillow (fifth, 170).
