The North Forsyth varsity volleyball team earned three quick wins Tuesday, opening the season with victories over Tallulah Falls, Lumpkin County and Flowery Branch. The Raiders did not lose a single set, winning each match 2-0.
Senior Alyssa Maxwell set a school record for aces in a match (13) during the win against Flowery Branch.
North (3-0) will play Saturday in the Kickoff Klassic at the Southern Volleyball Center in Alpharetta.
Forsyth Central 2, King's Ridge 0
Forsyth Central 2, Collins Hill 0
Forsyth Central is still undefeated following its first two matches of the season, toppling each King's Ridge and Collins Hill 2-0.
Junior Emma Kiser led the team with 21 kills, while junior Reise Johnson tallied 40 assists and seven aces. Junior Megan McCarthy had 15 digs and senior Malone Davis logged three blocks. Junior Natalie Roberts had 21 attempts with no errors.
The Bulldogs (2-0) will host Norcross at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Mill Creek 4, North Forsyth 2
North Forsyth fell in its season opener Tuesday, 4-2, to Mill Creek.
The Raiders outhit the Hawks 9-7 but did not score a run after their two-run first inning.
Junior Lauren Fields and senior Adaline Nix each finished with two hits, with Fields chipping in an RBI and scoring a run.Seniors Ashleigh Grace, McKayla Cothran and Hailey Mize each had one hit, as did sophomore Emily Hutcheson and Olivia Tyson.
Mize pitched six innings for the Raiders, giving up four runs - two earned - on seven hits and striking out two batters.
North (0-1) is back in action at noon Saturday against Greenbrier at West Forsyth High School.
