Woodland-Cartersville 3, Forsyth Central 1

WOODSTOCK – Lexi Bump had two hits but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Bulldogs lost their first-round game in the Region 7-AAAAA tournament Thursday at River Ridge High School.

Central fell into the loser’s bracket where it will face Cass on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Carrlyn Kiser was the hard-luck losing pitcher for the Lady Bulldogs. After allowing three runs in the first inning, Kiser pitched five shutout innings. She finished with five strikeouts over six innings.

Sydney Pajerski drove in the lone run for Central in the top of the second inning.

Lambert 8, Johns Creek 1

JOHNS CREEK – Marissa Guimbarda pitched seven strong innings and drove in a run as the Lady Longhorns inched closer to a Region 6-AAAAAA championship Thursday on the road.

Guimbarda gave up one earned run on six hits over seven innings and struck out four for Lambert (22-2, 15-1).

Skylar Aledia and Savannah Huffstetler each drove in a run.

West Forsyth 16, Alpharetta 3

ALPHARETTA – Randee Bernstein went 2-for-3 with four RBI as the Lady Wolverines cruised to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Thursday on the road.

Kayla Hardy went 2-for-4 with two RBI for West (15-11, 10-6), Kelly Carpenter was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI and Courtney Canady went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Alana Frye had two hits and two runs scored, and Hayla Seitz had a hit, two walks and two runs scored.


Forsyth Central sweeps

Julia Jasion had 21 kills and six aces as the Lady Bulldogs cruised to wins against Lanier (17-25, 25-20, 25-21) and Loganville (25-21, 25-15) to finish the regular season Thursday.

Freshman Taylor Smallwood added 10 digs and two blocks against Lanier for Central (17-11), which will play Cass in the first round of the Area 7-AAAAA tournament on Tuesday at 6 p.m., at Cambridge High School.

South Forsyth celebrates Senior Night

Taylor Svehla had 17 kills as the Lady War Eagles defeated Class AAAAA’s No. 5-ranked Cambridge (19-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-21) on Thursday as South celebrated Senior Night.

Amanda Rooney, a senior, added seven kills and six digs for South (31-17), while Amanda Nugent had seven kills.

Erin Yeatman had 20 digs, Kailey Carr had 18 digs, while Hannah Larson had 25 assists and Avery Tutt added 14 assists.

West Forsyth swept

The Lady Wolverines lost to Harrison (25-20, 25-18) and Sandy Creek (25-13, 25-17) in non-area matches Thursday.
