The Bulldogs lost their third straight nail-biter in a Region 7-AAAAA game Wednesday on the road.
Central fell to 10-12 overall and 8-8 in the region.
The Bulldogs’ lack of offense spoiled another strong outing by their starting pitcher. This time it was from Reed Clark who allowed just one earned run in six innings.
Hunter Bauman led Central at the plate with two hits.
Lambert 12, Alpharetta 0
Three pitchers combined for a no-hitter as the No. 1-ranked Longhorns remained undefeated with a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Wednesday at home.
Lambert improved to 22-0 overall and 12-0 in the region.
Seth Beer, Turner Scruggs and Thomas Reddin combined to hold the Raiders hitless. Beer pitched three innings and was also 3-for-3 at the plate.
Ian Kimbrell went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Longhorns, while Kyle McCann with 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
Chattahoochee 7, North Forsyth 6
A walk-off win ruined the Raiders’ comeback attempt in a Region 6-AAAAAA game Wednesday on the road.
North fell to 11-12 overall and 5-6 in the region.
The Raiders score five runs in the top of the sixth inning to come back from a 5-1 deficit and briefly take a 6-5 lead. But the Cougars (10-10, 5-4) tied the game with a run in the bottom of the sixth and won it with one run in the bottom of the seventh.
Harrison Roberts led North at the plate with three RBIs, while Zac Slaton had two RBIs.
South Forsyth 1, Centennial 0
A dominant performance by Will Foy helped the War Eagles to a Region 6-AAAAAA win Wednesday at home.
South improved to 8-12 overall and 3-6 in the region.
Foy scattered six hits and struck out four in seven shutout innings.
Jack Litras led the War Eagles at the plate going 1-for-2 with a walk.
West Forsyth 5, Johns Creek 1
The Wolverines’ slide continued with a Region 6-AAAAAA loss Wednesday on the road.
West lost its sixth straight to fall to 11-8 overall and 3-6 in the region.
Mason McWhorter had two hits and drove in the Wolverines’ only run. Hampton McConnell added three hits.
Lambert 154, Alpharetta 159
The Longhorns edged the Raiders in a Region 6-AAAAAA match Wednesday at the Alpharetta Athletic Club.
Campbell Fisher shot a 2-under 34 to lead Lambert.
Tanner Casey shot a 38, Jordan Baker shot 40 and Jake Fendt shot 42.
Lambert qualifies for state
The Lady Longhorns finished third at the Region 6-AAAAAA tournament Wednesday at Fowler Park.
Lambert will travel for the first round of the Class AAAAAA tournament and play the No. 2 seed from Region 8-AAAAAA.
The Lady Longhorns secured their spot in the state tournament with a win over South Forsyth in the first round of the region tournament. Lambert lost to Johns Creek in the semifinals before defeating Chattahoochee in the region consolation match.
Longhorns qualify for state
Lambert finished fourth at the Region 6-AAAAAA tournament Wednesday at Fowler Park.
The Longhorns will travel for the first round of the Class AAAAAA tournament and play the No. 1 seed from Region 8-AAAAAA.
Lambert secured its spot in the state tournament with a win over Centennial in the first round of the region tournament.
Central has three qualify for Sectionals
Frantzky Thomas, Max Warner and Neo Wilde qualified for the Class AAAAA Sectionals at the Region 7-AAAAA Track and Field Championships on Tuesday at Cambridge.
Thomas qualified in the boys’ triple jump finishing third with a jump of 42 inches, while Warner qualified in the boys’ 3200-meter run with a third place finish in 4:35.19.
Wilde was the lone girls’ qualifier for Central finishing third in the long jump with a jump of 16-2.75
