PREP ROUNDUP: Combined no-hitter leads Central baseball over South

West Forsyth’s baseball team cruised to a season-opening 11-1 win in 5 innings over Flowery Branch on Monday in a non-region game on the road.

The Wolverines (1-0) were led by Chris Cullen, Mason McWhorter and Alec Wilson, who each had three hits.

Connor Milford allowed an unearned run in two innings, while Austin Shea and Derrick Pickvet pitched two and one scoreless innings, respectively.

West returns to action Friday when its hosts Creekview at 5:55 p.m.

Central 2, South 0: Three Bulldogs pitched combined for a no-hitter to get Central’s season started right in a non-region game at home.

Reed Clark got the start and threw three scoreless innings for the Bulldogs (1-0), while Parker Morrison and Logan Howard each had hitless two-inning relief appearances.

Michael Branigan led Central at the plate with an RBI single. Dee Kelly went 2-for-3.

The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday when its hosts Hebron Christian at 5:55 p.m.

South (0-1) is scheduled to next play Friday at East Coweta, but the game might be rescheduled due to inclement weather forecasts.
