PREP ROUNDUP: Four county teams earn region basketball wins

Denmark’s boys basketball team improved to 5-3 in Region 7-4A on Tuesday night, taking a 54-38 win over Flowery Branch. Ze’Vian Capers led the Danes with 17 points and eight rebounds. Sutton Smith scored 15 points to go with five assists. Denmark’s girls fell to 0-9 in region play with an 82-25 loss to the Falcons.

West Forsyth earned two close region victories over Forsyth Central on Tuesday, with the girls taking a 45-42 win and the boys coming out on top 66-62. Kassidy Kimbro and Calie Thrower scored 14 and 10 points for West’s girls, respectively. The Wolverines’ Broc Bidwell notched 28 points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists in the boys’ win. Despite their loss, Central’s girls remain in second place in Region 5-7A, ahead of third place West.

North Forsyth and South Forsyth split their Tuesday night basketball matchups. North’s girls kept their perfect region record intact with a 52-34 win over the War Eagles, while South’s boys secured the split with a 45-42 win over the Raiders in the nightcap.
