Lambert 3, Cartersville 0

CARTERSVILLE – The Longhorns helped new head coach Rick Howard get off to a great start with a non-region victory Wednesday.

Zach Graveno got the win for Lambert (1-0), striking out seven against the No. 2-ranked team in Class AAAA.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Sequoyah 11, Forsyth Central 6

Maria Hansen had three goals but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Bulldogs dropped a non-area game Wednesday.

West Forsyth 20, Norcross 1

Sarah Grady had six goals, five assists and a record-breaking 143rd draw control as the Lady Wolverines cruised to a non-area victory Wednesday at home.

Madison Mueller added six goals for West (1-0).

Kelly Guthrie had two goals and an assist, while Lauren Doherty had one goal and one assist. West also got goals from Maggie Dickman, Allie Fagg, Kate Pulliam and Jillian White and an assist by Brenna Harris.

GIRLS SOCCER

North Forsyth 5, North Springs 1

Olivia Dumphy had a hat-trick and the Lady Raiders cruised to their second straight win Wednesday at home.

North (2-2-1) also got goals from Mack Cary and Kristina Evans in the non-region victory.
