Lambert splits doubleheader at Loganville

The Longhorns earned a 3-2 victory against Loganville before falling 4-2 to Lee County in a doubleheader of non-region games Saturday on the road.

Cameron Smith got the win against Loganville, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two in 3 2/3 innings.

Jack Fleming got the big hit, driving in Seth Clark in the third to put Lambert ahead for good. The Longhorns also got hits from Chris West, Collin Price, Carter Ballstadt, Bobby Gabriel and Will Gabbert.

Then Lambert Josh McAllister went 1-for-3 with an RBI against Lee County but it wasn’t enough. Zach Kennan suffered the loss, allowing four runs on five hits with five strikeouts in six innings.

South Forsyth 8, Roswell 1

Landon Sims threw seven innings of one-run ball to lead the War Eagles to a non-region victory Monday.

Sims allowed just one earned run on two walks and six hits while striking out eight for South.

Grant Gerberding led the War Eagles at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. South also got big days at the plate from Ben Ferrer (2-for-3, 2R), Ryan Finegan (1-for-2, 2R), Bradley Prince Jr. (1-for-3, R, RBI) and Max Schmal (1-for-4, RBI).

Lambert girls win West Hall Invitational

BRASELTON – Kate Owens shot a 78 as the Lady Longhorns edged Mill Creek by three strokes to win the West Hall Invitational at Chateau Elan on Saturday.

Lambert also got strong performances from senior Alison Crenshaw, Loren Kim and Christine McDonnell.


Lambert boys win Johnny Paulk Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND – West Forsyth finished fourth at the Johnny Paulk Invitational on Saturday with a team score of 305, just four strokes behind winner Lambert.

Connor Pollman led the way with a 73, followed by Austin Jaynes (75), Jason Quinlan (77), Peyton Balent (80) and Ryan Pollman (82).


Pinecrest Academy 9, Mt. Pisgah 6

KENNESAW – Jack Binkley scored two goals and three assists as the Paladins earned an Area 3-1/5A victory Saturday on the road.

Colin Spillane had a team-high three goals for Pinecrest (4-0, 2-0), while Wills Brown had two goals and two assists and Carson Holler added two goals.

Drew Hendren made 10 saves in goal.

West Forsyth 18, Decatur 5

DECATUR – Jimmy Martelli scored six goals as the Wolverines cruised to a non-area victory Saturday on the road.

West improved to 7-0 overall.


Five champions at Milton Showcase

MILTON – Forsyth Central thrower Taliyah Manning was one of five individual champions at the 10th Annual Milton Showcase this past Saturday.

Manning won the discus with a throw of 110 feet 8 inches. Manning also placed sixth in the shotput in 33-1.

Other individual champions at the event were North Forsyth’s Cassie Markle in the high jump (5-2), West Forsyth’s Liz Galarza in the 3,200-meter run (11:19.33), Stephanie Shea in the 5,000 (19:39.57) and Jack Haller in the pole vault (14-6).

Mill Creek swept both the boys and girls team titles.

North led Forsyth County boys teams with a ninth-place finish out 20 teams, while West finished 12th and Central finished 17th.

West led Forsyth County girls teams with an 11th-place finish out of 21 teams, while Central placed 15th and North placed 17th.
