Central’s Walker qualifies for state

Hannah Walker shot an 81 at the GHSA State Sectionals Golf Tournament on Monday to qualify for the Class AAAAA State Championship Tournament on May 18.

South Forsyth advances to state

Kelly Strickland shot a 78 and the Lady War Eagles finished second at the GHSA State Sectionals Golf Tournament on Monday to qualify for the Class AAAAAA State Championship Tournament on May 18.

South shot a 248, just four strokes behind first-place Etowah. The War Eagles were led by Strickland, Minji Kang (80) and Samantha Bearden (90). Amanda Jackson also had a good day with a 91.

West’s Fletcher qualifies for state

Allie Fletcher shot an 83 at the GHSA State Sectionals Golf Tournament on Monday to qualify for the Class AAAAAA State Championship Tournament on May 18.

BOYS GOLF

West Forsyth advances to state

Robert Shaw shot a 75 to help the Wolverines finish fourth at the GHSA State Sectionals Golf Tournament in Tifton on Monday and qualify for the Class AAAAAA State Championship Tournament on May 18.

West tied Kennesaw Mountain with a 314 behind Shaw, Connor Ferri (78), Connor Pollman (80) and Drew Ridings (81). The Wolverines also got strong performances from Austin Amburgy (83) and Austin Jaynes (84).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Pinecrest’s DiFazio to represent Georgia

Pinecrest Academy sophomore Sarah DiFazio was selected to play on the Georgia National Lacrosse Team in a national tournament May 23-24 at LeHigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.

BOYS LACROSSE

Forsyth Central 13, Sequoyah 4

Ryan Fitzpatrick scored six goals and the Bulldogs ended their season on a high note with a non-area victory at home.

Justin Aspenson scored four goals for Central, Grant Allen scored two goals and Josh Allen added a goal.

Lambert 20, South Forsyth 4

Thirteen different players scored as the Longhorns cruised to an Area 3-AAAAAA victory Friday in the teams’ regular season finales.

Conrad McEvoy led Lambert (16-2) with three goals. Jake Stanford, Hunter Clem, Hunter Shepherd, Justin Blastick and Grant Plaugher each scored two goals, while Darron You, Eric Overbay Trey Arnold, Morgan Cone, Jake Alesia, Alex Walker and Tyler Ray each added a goal.

Arnold, Cameron Barnes, Overbay and You each had one assist. Ben Stump had six saves in goal.
