PREP ROUNDUP: North girls run table in region; Denmark boys top Marist

North Forsyth 66, Milton 10

The Raiders crushed the Eagles on Friday at home to finish 10-0 in regular season Region 5-7A play, running the table for the second straight year.

North will be the No. 1 seed in the region girls tournament played next week at its home gym.

Pinecrest Academy 32, Whitefield 29 

The Paladins topped the WolfPack on Friday to improve its season record to 5-17.

Marist 55, Denmark 8

The Danes fell to 2-23 overall and 1-11 in Region 7-4A with a loss on Friday to the War Eagles.


Denmark 54, Marist 52

The Danes got revenge on the War Eagles, the first-place team in Region 7-4A, for a close loss earlier in the season and further cemented their own playoff status with a tight win on Friday.

Sutton Smith led Denmark with 21 points, while Adonnis Easton-Tolbert had 11 and scored the game-winning bucket. The Danes, who finished 9-3 in regular season region play, will be the No. 3 seed in the region tournament, which begins next week on Tuesday.

Milton 64, North Forsyth 48

The Raiders trailed by just two points at the end of the first quarter to an Eagles team that had already clinched the top Region 5-7A tournament seed, but they eventually fell behind to end the regular season with a loss.

North 1-9 in regular season region play and will face West Forsyth on Tuesday night. 

Whitefield 61, Pinecrest Academy 51

The Paladins fell in overtime to the WolfPack on Friday for their fifth straight loss, which dropped their record to 13-10 overall.
