PREP ROUNDUP: Rous hits walk-off single to lift Central baseball

Forsyth Central 3, Creekview 2

The Bulldogs got a thrilling walk-off 3-2 victory over Creekview on Friday in a Region 7-AAAAA game at home.

Jeffrey Rous delivered in the bottom of the seventh inning with an RBI single to break the 2-2 tie.

Nik Verbeke earned the win pitching a complete game. He allowed just four hits and two earned runs while striking out six.

Josh Meese had two hits for the Bulldogs, who improved to 7-7 overall and 5-3 in the region.

North Forsyth 5, Alpharetta 3

Jordan Ecton came through in a pinch for the Raiders in their 5-3 win over Alpharetta on Friday in a Region 6-AAAAAA game on the road.

Ecton broke a 3-3 tie with a pinch-hit two-run double.

Cody Gottberg came on in relief of starter Matthew Heard to get the win.

Max Bening hit a 3-run home run for North, while Griffin Caracciolo went 2-for-3.

The Raiders improved to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the region.

West Forsyth 9, Chattahoochee 3

The Wolverines won their ninth straight with a 9-3 win over Chattahoochee on Friday in a Region 6-AAAAAA game on the road.

Adison Albright pitched 4 2/3 innings to get the win, while Connor Milford struck out five in 2 1/3 innings of relief to get the save.

Alec Wilson led No. 6-ranked West at the plate going 3-for-4. Brady Plumley had a two-run double, and Mason McWhorter and Josh Tate each had two hits.

The Wolverines improved to 10-1 overall and 2-0 in the region.


Pinecrest Academy 2,  Holy Innocents’ 1

The Paladins earned a season sweep – in the same week – of the Bears in a Region 6-A win Friday at home.

Michael Houlihan scored in the 20th minute for Pinecrest. Logan Hamilton forced Holy Innocents’ into an own-goal in the 78th minute for the game-winner.

The Paladins improved to 7-2-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the region.
