PREP ROUNDUP: South girls defeat Alpharetta

Sarah Myers scored a team-high 17 points to lead South Forsyth girls basketball to a 50-39 victory at Alpharetta on Wednesday in a Region 6-AAAAAA game.

The Lady War Eagles improved to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in the region.

Ally Welch added nine points for South, which returns to action tonight at Chattahoochee.

Creekview 41, Forsyth Central 18: The Lady Bulldogs struggling through a poor shooting night on their way to a Region 7-AAAAA, Div. A loss Wednesday on the road.

Central shot just 14 percent from the field. The Lady Bulldogs fell to 5-10 overall and 2-4 in the region.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Creekview 68, Forsyth Central 47: The Bulldogs struggled Wednesday in a Region 7-AAAAA, Div. A loss on the road.

Central fell to 7-7 overall and 1-4 in the region.

No players scored in double figures for the Bulldogs, who have lost three straight.

"It was just one of those days where nothing goes right," Central coach Greg Dirst said.

WRESTLING

Lambert sweeps duals: The Longhorns swept a non-area tri-meet Wednesday at Duluth.

Lambert defeated host Duluth (63-18), Norcross (58-15) and North Gwinnett (41-33). Eric Diemert, Mathew Sheetz, Andrew Morin, JD Straight and Mario Mahmoud all went 3-0 on the day.

The Longhorns’ dual record improved to 21-6.
