West Forsyth knocked off its similarly named interstate nemesis Friday, topping West Forsyth (N.C.) 52-46.
Sophomore Calie Thrower led the Wolverines with 22 points, while sophomore Kalie Thrower had 12 and sophomore Cayla Cowart added 10. The Wolverines handed the defending Class 4A North Carolina state champions their fourth loss of the season.
West Forsyth (13-0, 2-0 Region 5-7A) will face Glenn (N.C.) on Saturday in the team’s final game of the calendar year.
Forsyth Central 73, Johnson 38
Forsyth Central stayed hot Friday night, winning its seventh game in eight tries with a dominant 73-38 win against Johnson.
Junior Aisha Dabo led all scorers with 16 points, while sophomore Jillian Bretz (15) and senior Bri LeDonne (12) also landed in double digits.
The Bulldogs will play in the Hall City Classic on Saturday and will kick off the Deep South Classic at Brookwood at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Providence Day (N.C.).
West Forsyth 70, West Forsyth (N.C.) 61
West Forsyth won its third straight game Friday, beating West Forsyth (N.C.) on the road, 70-61.
Junior Broc Bidwell led all scorers with 22 points, including five 3-pointers. Bidwell also had three rebounds, two steals and a pair of assists. Senior Jack Bock added 15 points and eight rebounds, while senior Nick Zabetakis was a perfect 6-for-6 shooting from the free-throw line.
The Wolverines (8-2, 2-0 Region 5-7A) will face Glenn (N.C.) and will return to Georgia for a Dec. 27 title against Providence Day at Brookwood High School in the Deep South Classic.
Lambert 72, Mountain View 69
The Longhorns kicked off the Lambert Holiday Classic with a win Friday, topping Mountain View 72-69.
Senior Colin Granger scored 21 points and senior Braxton Beaty added 18.
Lambert (8-6, 0-2 Region 5-7A) will host McIntosh on Saturday in the second day of the tournament.
Forsyth Central 55, Flowery Branch 32
The Bulldogs smothered Flowery Branch in a 55-32 win Friday, knocking off the Falcons to advance to the championship game of the Hall County Classic.
Senior Ripley Kurtz led Forsyth Central (6-7, 0-2 Region 5-7A) with 17, while fellow senior Anthony Roveto chipped in 16.
