PREP ROUNDUP: West Forsyth girls lacrosse gets big area win over Cambridge

Mount Paran 7, Pinecrest Academy 3

Ben Gobbel went 2-for-3 with a home run but the Paladins dropped a Region 5-7A game Wednesday at home.

Micky Mangan went 2-for-4 with a double for Pinecrest (11-11-1, 5-7).

South Forsyth 3, Milton 1

MILTON – Ben Ferrer hit and pitched the War Eagles to a Region 5-7A victory in eight innings Wednesday on the road.

Ferrer pitched the complete game, allowing one earned run on a walk and three hits while striking out 10 for South (15-4, 8-0). Ferrer also went 1-for-4 with a RBI.

Grant Gerberding went 1-for-3 with a solo home run.


Pinecrest Academy 17, Holy Innocents’ 12

Three different players had five goals as the Paladins earned an Area 5-1/5A victory Wednesday on the road.

Nika Brown, Molly Dankowski and Alex Tilkin each had five goals for Pinecrest (8-1, 3-0), while Ella Binkley added two goals.

South Forsyth 16, St. Pius X 5

ATLANTA – Camryn Klaus had five goals, two assists and eight draw controls as the War Eagles earned a non-area victory Wednesday on the road.

Mackenzie Cole added four goals, two assists and three draw controls for South (5-5, 1-4 Area 5-6/7A), while Izzy Parker had two goals and an assist and Lexi Kugelman had two goals.

Kayla Casey made eight saves in goal.

West Forsyth 10, Cambridge 5

Tori Gadsden made 14 saves in goal as the Wolverines earned a big Area 5-6/7A victory Wednesday at home.

West (10-2, 4-1), got goals from Ella Madson, Cami Merkel and Jill White to hand Cambridge, the 2017 Class 6-7A state runner-up, its first loss to a team in Georgia and first loss in area play.
