SOFTBALL

Sprayberry 13, Forsyth Central 0

MARIETTA – The Lady Bulldogs dropped their Region 7-AAAAA, Div. B regular season finale Thursday on the road.

The loss put Central (11-10, 8-4) in a three-way tie for second place in the sub-region with Kell and the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Sprayberry broke the game open with a 10-run second inning, while the Lady Bulldogs didn’t help themselves committing four errors.

Lambert 15, Centennial 0

Audrey Merrill was perfect on the mound as the Lady Longhorns cruised to a Region 6-AAAAAA win Thursday at home.

Merrill allowed no runs, no walks, not hits, and Lambert (16-2, 13-1) committed no errors, as the senior pitcher struck out five in three innings.

Shelby Dean had two hits and three RBI, Marisa Guimbarda had two hits and two RBI, Savannah Huffstetler had two hits and Zoe Miller had two RBI.

Habersham Central 14, North Forsyth 3

Ashley Barton had two RBI but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Raiders lost a Region 6-AAAAAA game Thursday at home.

North (8-13, 7-7) committed four errors and allowed 17 hits.

Ashley Barton led the Lady Raiders with two RBI, while Breena Gwaltney had two hits.

Johns Creek 5, South Forsyth 4

JOHNS CREEK – The Lady War Eagles blew a three-run lead in the bottom of the seventh inning and went on to drop a Region 6-AAAAAA game Thursday on the road.

South (16-3-1, 12-2) led 4-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning when things started to go wrong. The Lady War Eagles made two errors that led to all three runs scoring and tie the game. Johns Creek went on to win the game in the bottom of the eighth.

Emily Harris took the loss for South allowing five runs but only one earned. Maddie Clawson went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Harris scored two runs

West Forsyth 11, Northview 7

DULUTH – Caitlin Parks went 4-for-5 with two RBI as the Lady Wolverines got a Region 6-AAAAAA win Thursday on the road.

Kelly Carpenter got the win on the mound for West (12-11, 8-6), which into a tie for third place with the Lady Titans in the region standings.

Randee Bernsten went 2-for-4 with four RBI, while Alana Frye was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.

Other standouts for the Lady Wolverines were Bailley Concatto (1-for-3, 2R, RBI) and Courtney Canada (2-for-4, 2Rs).

VOLLEYBALL

Forsyth Central splits

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Berkmar (19-25, 25-17, 25-17) and lost to Mountain View (25-13, 25-17) in non-area matches Thursday.

South Forsyth splits

Erin Yeatman had 31 digs as the Lady War Eagles defeated Milton (25-11, 25-13) and lost Blessed Trinity (18-25, 26-24, 25-16) in non-area matches Thursday at home.

Taylor Svehla had a team-high 21 kills for South (28-13, 7-0 Area 6-AAAAAA), Amanda Nugent had 13 kills and Avery Kline added seven kills.

Hannah Larson had 35 assists, while Kailey Carr had 12 digs against Blessed Trinity.

West Forsyth sweeps

The Lady Wolverines defeated Kennesaw Mountain (25-9, 21-25, 25-17) and Pinecrest Academy (25-12, 24-26, 25-17) in non-area matches Thursday.

Taylor Ashcraft led West (30-2, 5-1 Area 6-AAAAAA) with 13 kills and 13 digs against Pinecrest. Shelby Lance had 10 kills and three blocks, and Chloe Lance added eight kills and seven digs.

Jordan Leitch had 21 assists against Pinecrest, Gabby Bachner had 13 assists and Danielle Menningman added 14 digs.
