PREP ROUNDUP: West girls, Denmark boys earn comfortable region wins
Girls basketball

West Forsyth 62, Milton 19

The Wolverines moved to 10-7 overall and 2-2 in Region 5-7A play with a shellacking of Milton, West’s second double-digit win of the week. Calie Thrower had 21 points for the Wolverines, and Cayla Cowart had 19.

Pinecrest Academy 45, Whitefield 19.

The Paladins improved to 3-13 overall and 2-5 in region play with their biggest win of the season. Meghan Sullivan led Pinecrest with 22 points, Aryn Spain had eight, and Nika Brown had seven.

Chestatee 73, Denmark 19

The Danes fell to 1-17 and 0-6 in Region 7-4A play with the loss. 

Boys basketball

Denmark 80, Chestatee 60

The Danes improved to 4-2 in Region 7-4A and 14-4 overall with Friday’s win over the War Eagles, Denmark’s second of the season. Sutton Smith led the Danes with 16 points and seven assists, while Ze’Vian Capers had 15 points and eight rebounds. Adonnis Easton-Tolbert had eight points and 11 rebounds.

Whitefield 53, Pinecrest Academy 51.

The Paladins almost pulled off a spirited comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring the WolfPack 18-13 after getting outscored in each of the previous quarters, but ultimately took their fourth straight loss. Josh Boeye led Pinecrest with 14, while Hank Lynch had 13 and Anthony Carpio had 9. The loss dropped Pinecrest to 11-6 and 3-5 in region play.

Milton 89, West Forsyth 82

The Wolverines fell to 2-2 in region play and 6-11 overall with the loss, their second of the week after falling 64-58 to South Forsyth on Tuesday.
