PREP ROUNDUP: West girls, Denmark boys get vital region wins

West Forsyth 49, Milton 15

The Wolverines moved to 14-10 overall and 6-3 in Region 5-7A with a home win over the Eagles on Monday. West has a chance to lock up the No. 2 seed in the region tournament on Friday if it can beat South Forsyth, whom the Wolverines topped 51-33 on Jan. 8.

White County 73, Denmark 36

The Danes fell in a road region matchup on Monday and saw their record drop to 2-22 overall and 1-10 in Region 7-4A.

St. Francis 76, Pinecrest Academy 21

The Paladins fell to 4-16 overall in a road matchup on Monday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Denmark 68, White County 58

The Danes got a crucial region win and kept a hold on third place in Region 7-4A with a road victory over the Warriors on Monday. Denmark, now 18-6 overall and 8-3 in region play, is ensured of a No. 3 seed at worst in the region tournament.

Milton 73, West Forsyth 51

The Wolverines fell to 10-14 and 5-4 in region play with a home loss to the Eagles on Monday.

St. Francis 69, Pinecrest Academy 55 

The Paladins played even with Knights in the first quarter and outscored them in the fourth, but the lopsided margins of the middle two periods were enough to send Pinecrest to a loss and drop its record to 13-9.
