PREP ROUNDUP: West softball gets crucial win against North

West Forsyth used a 3-run fifth inning to pull ahead for a 5-1 victory against North Forsyth on Tuesday at home in a crucial Region 6-AAAAAA game.

The Lady Wolverines were led by pitcher Laura Bearden, who allowed five hits and no earned runs while striking out three in seven innings.

Caitlin Parks went 2-for-2 with a triple and RBI for West, Bailley Concatto was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored, Eric Davis went 1-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored and Hayla Seitz and Elle Reitler each had an RBI.

Breena Gwaltney led North with three hits, including a double, and Andrea Coleman drove in the Lady Raiders’ lone run.

Lea Ann Porter took the loss for North, allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits with five walks and two strikeouts.

Lambert 15-15, Centennial 0-0: The Lady Longhorns swept a Region 6-AAAAAA doubleheader at home.

Lambert (20-2) used a 10-run first inning to take an early lead in Game 1.

Megan Walz led the Lady Longhorns going 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs and allowed just one hit over three innings while striking out seven. Zoe Miller went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and Sydnie Smith went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

It was more of the same in Game 2. Lambert burst ahead with a 12-run first inning and got an impressive performance from pitcher Marissa Guimbarda.

Guimbarda pitched a perfect game, striking out five in three innings while also going 2-for-2 with a double.

Macy Stovall went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, Savannah Huffstetler had a double and two RBIs, Smith had a hit and two RBIs and Megan Whitlach added a hit and a RBI.

Northview 3, Forsyth Central 2: The Lady Bulldogs lost a crucial Region 7-AAAAA game at home.


South earns sweep: The Lady War Eagles celebrated a pair of individual milestones with an Area 6-AAAAAA sweep at North Forsyth.

South senior setter Kelli McCravy had 41 assists in the tri-match to reach 2,000 assists for her career, while senior defensive specialist Tory Wright had 31 digs to reach 1,000 digs.

South (32-3) defeated Johns Creek (25-19, 21-25, 25-21) and North (25-5, 25-19).

Jordan Hawk led the Lady War Eagles with 14 kills and three aces. Taylor Svehla had 13 kills, Rachel Croce had eight kills and 14 digs, Hannah Shanley had seven kills and 13 digs, Kailey Carr had eight digs and Hannah Larson added seven assists.

West splits: The Lady Wolverines split an Area 6-AAAAAA tri-match at North Forsyth.

West defeated North (25-6, 25-16) and lost to Johns Creek (25-11, 25-15).

The Lady Wolverines (14-14, 1-3) were led by Gabby Bachner’s eight kills. Shelby Lance added six kills, Chloe Lance had six aces and eight digs, Jordan Leitch had 21 assists and four kills, while Alyssa Robertson contributed 12 digs.

Chloe Tyler also had seven digs for West, while Rebecca Bowler and Makena Burns each added four kills.
