Forsyth County News

South Forsyth third baseman Meghan Rud and North Forsyth pitcher Andrea Coleman highlight the 2011 All-Forsyth County softball team.

The head softball coaches from Forsyth County’s five public high schools named Rud the county player of the year and gave two-way star Coleman pitcher of the year honors.

Seven of the 17 athletes selected batted over .400 this past fall, and four pitchers combined for an ERA of 2.29.

After helping North to its first Class AAAAA playoff series victory, five Raiders made the all-county roster, the most of any team.

Lambert had four players honored. South Forsyth and West Forsyth had three apiece, as each team finished a victory short of a state tournament appearance.

The future looks bright for county softball; only three of this year’s honorees are seniors. Two teams — South and Forsyth Central — had no seniors players this season.

Nine of the all-county softball players are repeat selections, indicated by an asterisk*.
