Parkview at South Forsyth

When: Wednesday at 5 and 7 p.m.; Thursday at 6 p.m. if necessary

Records: South is 17-8; Parkview is 20-9

What to know: The War Eagles have already received a heavy dose of the drama associated with postseason play. They were an out away from losing their playoff opener against Mountain View in the bottom of the eighth last Thursday, but Makenna Segal whacked a solo home run to keep South alive, and Jordyn Harris' single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth won it for the War Eagles. The next game was decided late as well, with Morgan Kilmer scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh. South will now face a Parkview team that hasn't lacked for offense this year: The Panthers are hitting .345 as a team, scored 20 runs in two games in their first playoff series against Newton and have four starters hitting above .400, in Destiny Beckham, Hannah Turnbull, Denise Teague and Allison Barfield.

What's next: The winner will advance to the eight-team tournament in Columbus in Position A.

Lambert at Brookwood

When: Wednesday at 5 and 7 p.m.; Thursday at 6 p.m. if necessary

Records: Lambert is 18-11; Brookwood is 19-9

What to know: The Longhorns' first-round playoff series against Mill Creek was a pretty good encapsulation of how the season has gone for them so far: A split of the first doubleheader and a win in game three, with all three games being decided by one run. The magic in close games that propelled Lambert to a perfect record in region play last year seems to have returned, with senior pitcher Kassidy Krupit at top form. The Longhorns will travel to face a Brookwood team that's fairly hot — the Broncos have won their past four games, including two against Parkview in the region tournament — but whose last loss came to a West Forsyth squad that didn't make the playoffs. Brookwood also beat Mill Creek 10-1 back on Aug. 12.

What's next: The winner will advance to the eight-team tournament in Columbus in Position E.
