Lamberts girls and boys tennis teams were eliminated by Peachtree Ridge in the state quarterfinals of the Class 6A tennis tournament.

Although the girls fell 3-2 and the boys lost 3-1, Lambert head coach Eric Hampton is confident both teams will grow from the experience and come back stronger next season.

"[The girls team] had four freshmen and one sophomore playing against seniors," Hampton said. "They had some very close matches that could have gone either way. [The boys’] matches could have gone either way, too.

"We had a great season. … I feel real confident going forward. Our goal is to make it deeper in the playoffs until we win a state championship."

Pinecrest Academy’s girls team dropped 3-2 to Darlington in the first round of the Class A tournament.
