South Forsyth's Alex Barbir (from left), Lambert's Jeremy Johnson and South's Tyler LaFlamme made the Georgia Sports Writers Association All-State Football Team.

Three Forsyth County high school football players made the Georgia Sports Writers Association All-State Football Team in Class AAAAAA.

South Forsyth’s Alex Barbir was the lone first team selection from Forsyth. The junior emerged as one of the state’s top kickers this season, particularly on the night of Oct. 10 when he made four field goals in a 33-8 victory against then-undefeated Northview, including from 56, 52 and 44 yards. Barbir finished the year 6-of-8 on field goals and made 43 of 44 extra-points to help the War Eagles go 6-5 and reach the state playoffs for the first time since 2010.

Lambert defensive back Jeremy Johnson was a second-team selection as a kick returner. The senior had another strong season in the secondary, finishing with 41 tackles and an interception to earn first team all-Region 6-AAAAAA honors for the second straight season and help the Longhorns finish 7-4 and made the state playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons.

But Johnson was particularly lethal on special teams this season. He returned 12 kicks for 553 yards with four touchdowns, including two in one game, a 41-7 victory against Johns Creek on Sept. 5.

South running back Tyler LaFlamme made the Class AAAAAA All-State team as an honorable mention selection in a year where the state’s highest classification was loaded with impressive talent at the position. LaFlamme finished with 1,462 yards and 17 touchdowns on 222 carries and added 12 catches for 301 yards and three touchdowns.

But LaFlamme managed to stand out from the rest of the state on Sept. 26, when he rushed for 435 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-34 victory against Chattahoochee. His 435 yards are the fifth most in a single game in state history.
