North Forsyth and South Forsyth led the county at the Region 6-AAAAAA track & field championships.
North and South had eight top-four finishes, while Lambert and West Forsyth each finished with seven at the meet, held April 17-19 at Johns Creek.
The Lady Longhorns took fifth place in the girls rankings, as North, West and South rounded out the group. South claimed fourth place in the boys rankings, North took fifth, Lambert seventh and West eighth.
The top-four individual qualifiers will compete at the sectional meet at Roswell High School on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
"Region is all about advancing," North head coach Neal Matheson said. "But, sectionals is as hard as state.
"We had some meet my expectations… Tanner Riddle is one of the top high jumpers in the state. He can jump 6’8", but only needed 6’4" [to get first.]"
North’s Mckenzie Rutan took first in the 100-meter hurdles and second in the pole vault; Carlin Light placed second in the high jump and third in the long jump; Tanner Riddle was first in the high jump, second in the 110-meter hurdles and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles; Chad Warner took second in the pole vault; Bennie Bates finished third in the discus throw and Kansas Mullins was fourth in the long jump.
South qualifiers were: Savannah Carnahan in the 1600-meter run (fourth) and in the 3,200-meter run (third), Jake Howlin in the 800-meter run (third) and pole vault (third), Ryan Peppenhorst in the 1,600-meter run (third) and the 800-meter run (fourth), Reed Vaughn in the 3,200-run (fourth), Michael Scullin in the shot put (third), Anthony Riddle in the high jump (fourth) and Trey Glenn, Zack Miller, Tyler LaFlamme and Michael Gatto (fourth) in the 4x100-meter relay.
Lambert qualifiers were: Savannah Smith in the high jump (first) and in the 400-meter dash (fourth), Leanne Zimmer in the 800-meter run (first), Morgan Davis in the high jump (third), Victoria Hamby in the discus throw (fourth), Noah Schaich in the 3,200-meter run (second) and Zachary Alexander in the 110-meter hurdles (fourth).
West qualifiers were: Chandler Randall in the long jump (second) and in the 200-meter dash (fourth), Courtney Canady in the 100-meter hurdles (third), Lauren Fletcher in the 100-meter dash (fourth), Janelle Thompson in the shot put (second), Will Brown in the 200-meter dash (fourth) and in the 4x100-meter relay (second) with Kwon Miller, Trevor O’Brien and Austin Reid.
Jessica Zalzman and Sofia Ferrari were Pinecrest’s only two athletes to advance from the Class A regional meet. Zalzman finished second in the 1,600-meter run and third in the 3,200-meter run, while Ferrari placed fourth in the triple jump.
Forsyth Central’s T.J. Custer and Brenden Lutz advanced in the Region 7-AAAAA championships. Custer claimed third in the triple jump and Lutz was third in the high jump.
