Region 6-7A flexed its muscles Saturday as Forsyth Central and North Forsyth upended a couple of region champions and advanced to the Class 7A Elite Eight.

North beat Region Region 4-7A champion Brookwood 3-1, while Central topped Region 2-7A winner Newnan.

North won its match 25-18, 25-19, 22-25, 25-19. The Raiders' defense shut down the Broncos offense, holding Brookwood to a .097 hitting percentage.

The Raiders [33-11] will host Hillgrove at 6 p.m. Tuesday at North Forsyth High School. The two teams did not play each other during the regular season, though Hillgrove faced two Forsyth County opponents, beating West Forsyth 2-1 and falling to Forsyth Central 2-1.

Central, meanwhile, split the first two sets against Newnan before rallying to take the final two, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19, 25-21. Senior Sarah Pipping, a West Georgia commit, collected her 1,000th kill in the victory.

The Bulldogs [31-14] will travel to Alpharetta at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Central last faced Alpharetta last month in a tournament, falling 2-0.
