Forsyth County’s coaches named 25 players to the 2012 All-County volleyball team, including 10 first team players. Ten second team players and five honorable mention were also honored.

Lambert and Pinecrest Academy qualified for the state playoffs last season, while South Forsyth also reached the postseason and advanced to the quarterfinals.

South head coach Kelly Wren was named All-Area 5-AAAAAA Coach of the Year, as she guided the Lady War Eagles to its deepest playoff run in program history and will return every starter next season.

"I’ve been trying to build a program at South for five years," Wren said. "I feel like this is an acknowledgement of my effort. We’re finally getting to the point where I’d like us to be."

Co-Player of the Year — Savannah Oaks, MH, Lambert, junior, First-Team All-Region and All-State

Lambert coach Missey Hall: "Savannah is a tremendous all-around player and I have been blessed with the opportunity to coach her this season. She is a powerful hitter whose strength is being able to hit around and avoid blocks…She is a joy to coach and I’m thrilled to have her back for another season next year."

Co-Player of the Year — Taylor Svehla, MH/B, South Forsyth, sophomore, First-Team All-Region and All-State

Wren: "She’s a big playmaker. She has that competitive edge and has been a big part of our success. Her teammates really respect her. She goes hard and is just a great player."

Setter of the Year — Kelli McCravy, S, South Forsyth, junior, First-Team All-Region, All-State Honorable Mention

Wren: "She’s a hard worker. She’s a people pleaser, which can be a good or bad thing, but she tries to make the hitters happy. She makes adjustments and has to carry the pressure and is absolutely our main captain."
