Pinecrest Academy announced on Wednesday that it had hired John Bauersfeld as its head boys basketball coach. Bauersfeld takes over for Terrance Vinson, who went 8-16 with the Paladins in 2017-18.

Bauersfeld was most recently the head coach at Calvert Hall High School in Baltimore, a position he had held since 2007. The Cardinals won Baltimore Catholic League titles in 2010, 2014 and 2015 and finished 10-16 this past season.

Bauersfeld, a Maryland native, has coached multiple players who have gone on to play for Division I powerhouses, including Damion Lee, who played in college at Drexel and Louisville and saw time with the Atlanta Hawks this season.

This is the second basketball head coaching hire that Pinecrest has made this offseason: Earlier in April, the school hired Jonathan Oshinski, a middle school boys coach, as its new varsity girls coach, replacing Ken Lacy.
