Pinecrest Academy at Mount Pisgah Christian

When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Mount Pisgah Christian athletic facility (off Brumbelow Road) in Johns Creek

Record, ranking: Pinecrest is 2-1 and unranked in Class A; Mount Pisgah is 3-0 and unranked in Class A

Series history: Mount Pisgah leads 4-2

Last meeting: Pinecrest won 28-25 in 2015

What to know: Pinecrest is heading into the first of a two-game slate that could make or break its season. They face off with nearly-ranked Mount Pisgah before hosting Mount Paran next week.

Thankfully for the Paladins, they’ve got to feel prepared. Last Friday they thumped Walker on the road, 35-0, to open region play—that was after a 28-7 win against Class 7A school Discovery, which earned its first win in program history the following weekend.

Surely, Pinecrest’s season opening loss to South Forsyth is behind it. Quarterback Ryan McCarthy will get another chance to knock off the Patriots, though this time he’ll do it without a torn meniscus, like last year. Pinecrest’s defense will have to slow down Jacob Cendoya, one of the more prolific quarterbacks in Class A with dual-threat ability.

Pinecrest defeated the Patriots 28-25 last season at home.
