Forsyth County News

When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at War Eagle Stadium in Cumming.

Records, rankings: Chattahoochee is 0-4 overall, 0-3 in Region 6-AAAAAA and unranked in Class AAAAAA; South is 4-0, 3-0 and unranked.

Series history: Chattahoochee leads 6-3.

Last meeting: South won 42-34 in 2014.

What to know: The biggest question with South is whether or not the War Eagles have been tested during their seemingly flawless 4-0 start. That question likely won’t be answered tonight.

Give credit where credit is due: South is outscoring its opponents 39-14.5, and that statistic includes the 35-point anomaly against Habersham, who scored three late touchdowns against backups. Davis Shanley has showed off crazy poise with his arm and his legs, having the ability to extend plays and elude pressure like a ballerina. Sam Outlaw is coming off a big time game on the ground, and the War Eagles’ Cameron Kline has been unstoppable as a pass rusher.

But if you look at the opponents, you see why South has put up huge numbers. South’s opponents through four games have gone a combined 3-13. Centennial and North are both 1-3, with both of those victories coming against, you guessed it, Chattahoochee.

Add on Chattahoochee’s 0-4 mark, and South’s opponents are 3-17. South better keep the momentum going, because after this game they’ll face off against the two best teams in the county, rising teams in Northview and Johns Creek and the defending region champs in Alpharetta.
