PREP ROUNDUP: Both West lacrosse teams advance in state playoffs

West Forsyth 26, Brookwood 6

The Wolverines romped over the Broncos in their state playoff opener at home on Thursday. West had a 7-1 lead with 16:50 left in the first half, and the Wolverines didn’t let the game get much closer after that. They led 15-3 at halftime before coasting to the finish in the second half.

West is set to face Allatoona at home next week in the second round of the playoffs.

Mountain View 12, Lambert 10

The Longhorns fell on the road to the Bears on Thursday to end their season at 10-9 overall.

Boys lacrosse

Lambert 17, Parkview 1

The Longhorns cruised past the Panthers in the first round of the state playoffs at home on Thursday. They’re set to face Allatoona in the second round at home next week.

West Forsyth 8, Collins Hill 4

The Wolverines advanced to the second round of the state playoffs for the third year in a row on Thursday, defeating the Eagles on the road. West took a 5-0 lead into halftime before holding off Collins Hill in the second half.

Chris Neal led West with three goals and an assist. The Wolverines are set to host Woodstock in the second round on Tuesday.

Boys soccer

Meadowcreek 4, South Forsyth 2

The War Eagles fell behind 3-0 to the Mustangs on the road on Thursday, but South put in two goals in 10 minutes in the second half to narrow the deficit. Meadowcreek put in one more late in the second half, however, to cement the final margin. South finished the season at 7-8-1.

Lakeside-DeKalb 3, Forsyth Central 0

The Bulldogs fell to the No. 1-seeded Vikings on the road on Friday, ending their season with a 13-6-0 record.
