The father of a Forsyth County man who late last month was sentenced to three consecutive life terms for multiple sex offenses against children faces similar charges.

A trial date has not been set for Rodney Daniel Clinton Sr., 50, who, according to Forsyth County jail records, has been in custody since he was arrested in 2009.

He pleaded not guilty in 2010 to two counts of rape, four counts of aggravated child molestation, four counts of child molestation and one count of incest.

A Forsyth County Superior Court jury found his son, 28-year-old Rodney Daniel Clinton Jr., guilty Sept. 28 of four counts each of rape and incest. He was additionally convicted of six counts of child molestation and three counts of aggravated child molestation.

Rodney Clinton Jr.’s appointed attorney, Norman Cuadra, filed a motion for new trial Wednesday on his client’s behalf.

Attempts to reach Cuadra and Rodney Clinton Sr.’s attorney for comment were unsuccessful.

In addition, three of the Clintons’ relatives were indicted in connection with the same incidents.

Court documents show the offenses took place between 2007 and 2009. Forsyth County Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Scalia said the charges stem from a case involving young boys and girls related to the Clintons, some of whom were under the age of 10.

She said the children have all been adopted.

“I think it was a just verdict,” Scalia said. “I think the sentence recognizes the horrific nature of his crimes and I think the community and in particular the children of the community are much safer with him off the streets.”

She said the Clintons moved from Forsyth County to south Georgia and back again over the years.

In addition to life in prison, visiting Gwinnett County Superior Court Senior Judge Fred Bishop ordered Rodney Clinton Jr. to serve 10 concurrent 20-year sentences behind bars. Clinton was given a total of seven life sentences, four of which may be served concurrently.

Rodney Clinton Sr.’s wife, Lisa Ann Clinton, 45, the stepmother of Rodney Clinton Jr., is serving a 15-year prison sentence after pleading guilty in May to one count of statutory rape, according to court documents.

She will receive credit for time served since September 2009, documents show, and after three years may serve the remainder of her sentence on probation.

Rodney Clinton Jr.’s wife, Lisa Ann Thomas Clinton, 28, is serving 20 years in prison for one count of statutory rape and two counts of first degree cruelty to children. She pleaded guilty to the charges in April and, after serving 10 years behind bars, may serve the rest of her sentence on probation.

Also facing charges connected with the case is 38-year-old James Durrell Brooks, whom Scalia said is related to the Clintons by marriage. He pleaded not guilty in 2010 to two counts each of rape and child molestation.

A trial date has not been set for Brooks, who remains in custody on $66,000 bond, jail records show.
