Authorities say that male suspect is being sought for questioning for a series of shoplifting incidents, where more than $3,000 of merchandise was stolen from a south Forsyth Lowe’s store.
An incident report recently filed by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office states that on June 4, 2019, authorities took reports of multiple shopliftings that had allegedly taken place at the Suwanee Lowe’s, 3580 Peachtree Parkway throughout May.
According to the report, on five different instances a male suspect entered the store with an empty shopping cart, selected items off the store’s shelves and took them to the returns counter, “as if he already paid for them.”
Once store employee’s denied the man’s request to return the items, he allegedly exited the store with the stolen goods. Video from the store reportedly showed this method repeated by the suspect in all of the incidents.
Items stolen from store include several wine refrigerators, table saws, tool sets, ratchet clamp sets and other miscellaneous tools, with a value totaling $3,738, the report states.
Traffic stop leads to drug arrest
A Stone Mountain man was arrested in Forsyth County last week after a traffic stop on Ga. 400 led deputies to find a felony quantity of marijuana in his vehicle.
According to a report filed June 3, 2019, a white van was stopped on Ga. 400 near Shiloh Road, after it was allegedly detected traveling nearly 30 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.
While conducting the traffic stop, a deputy reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a search of its contents. During the search a black book bag was found in the vehicle, allegedly containing a glass container full of a green leafy substance, which resembled marijuana, along with a small scale and 15 empty Ziploc bags.
Using the scale found in the driver’s bags, the report states that deputies weighed the suspected marijuana, finding that allegedly it contained 31.3 grams of suspected marijuana.
The driver was then taken into custody for possession of marijuana over 1 ounce and was transported to the Forsyth County Jail.
Vehicle stolen from Forsyth County residence
Authorities say that a Mercedes Benz S600 was stolen from a residence on Westchester Place in Forsyth County by unknown suspects last week.
According to an incident report, the vehicle was stolen at about 2 a.m. June 5, as it sat parked in its owner’s driveway.
The report states that the vehicle’s theft was caught on video by a security camera, footage from which reportedly showed a silver sedan that drove slowly past the residence, allowing one suspect to enter the Mercedes and drive it away.
The vehicle’s owner told deputies that the Mercedes’s keys were not left inside and previously a different vehicle had been stolen from him in a similar manner. The owner said that he believes the thieves followed him home from a local gym and may have had a “key device” to start the Mercedes.
It was reported that three Apple iPhone X’s, $400 in cash and multiple credit cards, were in the vehicle when it was stolen.A BOLO was issued for the vehicle by the sheriff’s office.
