The third annual Fun in the Field spring festival is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Eagle Point Landfill in northwestern Forsyth County.
The event will feature many activities for children, among them pony rides, a petting zoo, rock climbing and face painting.
There also will be a variety of festival fare.
Proceeds from the event, which will run from 2 to 6 p.m., benefit the Forsyth County school system.
Five Forsyth County elementary schools plan to participate in a recycling competition with cash prizes from $1,000 to $5,000.
Concession stands will be sponsored by Chestatee, Coal Mountain, Cumming, Matt and Silver City elementary schools.
The Eagle Point Landfill is operated by Advanced Disposal Services Inc., which is sponsoring the event. The landfill is at 8880 Old Federal Road in Ball Ground.
